Shop and save lives: Primark host COVID vaccine clinic on Oxford Street this bank holiday weekend

Published on: 27th August 2021

Primark is partnering with the NHS and Westminster City Council, to host its first London-based COVID vaccine clinics from its stores in Oxford Street East on Friday 27 August and Saturday 28 August.

Anyone aged 16+ can grab a jab at these stores, and help save lives, while they shop on the bank holiday weekend.

The stores’ changing rooms will be transformed into purpose-built clinics, where shoppers can drop in at their own convenience – no appointment needed.

The clinics will be offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Second doses need to be a minimum of 8 weeks after the first.

There will also be an opportunity for people to speak to health professionals about the vaccine to resolve any concerns some people may have, including around fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

More than one million Londoners aged 18-29 (over 65%) have had the COVID-19 vaccine – with ten and a half million doses given in total to all Londoners.

These pop-ups, supported by Westminster City Council, are part of the latest drive to further encourage vaccine uptake amongst younger people.

Joe Nguyen, NW London CCG Westminster Borough Director, said: “The easier we make it for people to access the vaccine, the more people we hope to protect from the potentially life threatening impact of the virus. We are delighted to be working with Primark this weekend to reach many more Londoners and to keep people doing normal things again, safely.”

Cllr Tim Mitchell, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health said:

“It’s important for everyone to get both doses of their Covid-19 vaccine, and that’s why we are proud to support the NHS and Primark in making vaccines available in the heart of the UK’s busiest shopping district this weekend. This initiative will provide an easy and convenient way for people to get their vaccine and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.”

Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director for Primark added: “Following the success of the vaccination clinics in our stores in Bristol and Birmingham, we’re pleased to be able to offer people in London the opportunity to get their vaccine this weekend at our Wood Green and Oxford Street (East) store. Wherever we can we try to support important local community initiatives and we’re really pleased that we can play a small part in supporting the work of the NHS by making it even easier for people to get their vaccine.”

Clinics are taking place Friday 27th August and Saturday 28th August at Primark Oxford Street (nearest Tottenham Court Road) between 12 and 5pm.
