Amor Gatinao – very sad news

Published on: 14th April 2020

We are very sorry to confirm that Amor Gatinao, who worked as a continuing healthcare assessor, has passed away after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Amor joined the North West London CCGs in 2019, having previous worked for London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust and Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust. She was a popular member of the CHC team and will be very sadly missed.

Rebecca Campbell, Deputy Head of CHC, has expressed the feelings of the CHC team at this very sad time:

“Amor was an incredibly kind, caring and warm hearted nurse, known to many of the team for many years. Amor nurtured people and shared her skills and knowledge with all from her experience and was an absolute pleasure to have known Amor and have worked with her.”

Jo Ohlson, Accountable Officer for the eight North West London CCGs, added:

“This is very sad and distressing news. Amor was much-loved member of staff and we have expressed our deepest condolences to her family for their tragic loss. She will be hugely missed by her colleagues, who are naturally devastated by this news.”

Amor’s family has also shared the following tribute:

"Our mum was an exceptional nurse, she had such pride in the work she was able to do. We know our mum valued her achievements but this came second to the value she placed on her colleagues and friends. We know the NHS meant more than work for our mum, her passion for work was greatly affected by the team that mentored, guided, and supported her. We as a family have always seen the NHS as the institution where my mum felt the most self-actualized, where she found life-long friends, and where she formed a family.

Our mum's legacy in the NHS is our family's pride; but the friends my mum has made in the NHS have been our rock during this time of overwhelming grief.

We are so thankful that so many of our NHS family are able to grieve with us at this time; it is a real testament of the distance my mum's influence has reached. We are proud that she was always able to leave places and people better than how she found them."
