Even more residents in North West London now have access to a Covid-19 vaccine with the launch of a new large vaccination centre at the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes. The site has started offering vaccinations from today, Tuesday 16 March.

The large-scale site, which already contains a mix of office and retail space, is a short walk from Hayes and Harlington railway station, and offers thousands more life-saving vaccinations each week. The launch of the centre comes as the NHS focuses on the latest priority groups who are eligible for the vaccine - people aged 55 and over and people with long term health conditions.

You don’t need to wait to be invited if you are eligible for the vaccine, and can go online or phone to book your appointment at the centre. Visit http://www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination anytime or call 119 free (7am and 11pm seven days a week).

The new vaccination centre at the Old Vinyl Factory is run by The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and its set up has been supported by Hillingdon Council and U+I.

Patricia Wright, Chief Executive of The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:

"With the vaccination programme continuing at pace, the opening of a vaccine centre at the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes is a very welcome local addition to the number of sites already available across the capital. This will enable us to protect even more local people from the harmful effects of coronavirus. The vaccine helps reduce the likelihood of becoming seriously ill. After you have had your vaccine, please continue to protect yourself and your loved ones by following the Government's guidance and remembering 'Hands, Face, Space'."

Cllr Ian Edwards, Leader of Hillingdon Council, said:

“Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our partners at the NHS and our local CCGs, we are about to reach our milestone of more than 100,000 residents vaccinated by the end of this week. This will be a fantastic milestone for Hillingdon and another vaccination site in our borough is great news as the rollout gathers pace.

“By working together, we can beat coronavirus and keep Hillingdon safe. When you are offered the vaccine, please book your appointment as soon as possible to protect yourself, others and our local communities.”

Richard Upton, Chief Executive Officer at U+I, said:

“We are delighted to support NHS England with their National Vaccination Programme and play a small part in helping to get the nation back on its feet. The Old Vinyl Factory sits at the heart of the local community and it’s wonderful to see these buildings serve the people of Hayes as we emerge as quickly and safely as possible from this difficult time.”

Whether you have had a vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives – that means staying at home as much as you can, and following the ‘hands, face, space’ guidance when you can’t.
