Updating NHS Directory of Services to ensure it reflects your capacity status

ACTION: Complete the online NW London situation report daily

You may have seen this item in the National Primary Care Bulletin from Dr Nikki Kanani last night.

We wanted to confirm what the process is to follow to ensure that we can update the Directory of Services (DoS) with any service changes in our General Practices in NW London. The DoS provides real-time information to NHS 111, 111 Online and integrated urgent care (IUC), signposting and supporting the referrals process for patients so it’s important it is accurate, particularly now.

As practices are already completing the daily NW London CCGs Situation Report: COVID-19, we are requesting that you continue to complete that on line but by 10am each day (Mon-Fri) rather than 11am.  Your CCG and NWL colleagues will then ensure that the information needed for DoS is extracted from the situation report and any necessary updates made centrally.

It is therefore essential that our practices complete the online NW London situation report daily.

As a reminder the link for the NW London CCGs situation report is: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WFX3WP8. This now needs to be completed by 10am daily on core working days – only 1 submission per practice.

The survey should take you no longer than 5-10 mins daily. By filling in the sit rep survey you will not only support the CCGs in providing targeted support to practices/PCNs, but the information also enables prioritisation of COVID-19 testing. It will now be used to provide essential updates on the DoS too.

Please make every effort to complete the situation report daily.

Message from NHSEI: Covid-19 London Delirium Guidance Document

ACTION: Read cover letter and guidance in full here

Delirium is important in the context of Covid-19. It may be the only presenting symptom, associated behavioural changes may make care and maintaining isolation particularly challenging and it can cause significant carer distress.

The attached guidance is designed to support hospitals (not ITU), care homes and community settings during Covid-19. The guidance includes information on prevention, identification, non-pharmacological and pharmacological management and post-delirium follow up.

The London Clinical Advisory group asked the London Dementia Clinical Network to develop this guidance and number of professionals were involved including consultant pharmacist, old age psychiatrists, neurologist, GP and geriatrician.

The guidance document was approved by the London Clinical Advisory Group on 16/04/2020.This guidance is not designed to be prescriptive but to provide a useful aid to use alongside clinical judgement.

If you have further questions around this guidance please contact the London Clinical Networks by emailing england.london-scn@nhs.net.

PPE reminder: order through business as usual (BAU) supply chains first

ACTION: Read the linked documents if you have not yet done so, and follow the process in full

At present, there are no deliveries of PPE equipment scheduled to general practices from central team. A dedicated PPE team set up continues to review individual requests to ensure stock-outs situation and that vital care continues without disruption.

In line with the approved SOP, general practices are expected to order their PPE through their business as usual (BAU) supply chains first. Providers who have an urgent requirement for PPE, which they are unable to secure through their BAU channels, should then contact the NSDR via the 24/7 helpline: 0800 915 9964 (Freephone number in the UK), and a Direct Line from overseas: 0191 283 654.

You already have the current versions of the SOP, NSDR guidance and order form but you can find them here again if you need them for reference.

NHSEI workforce feedback hub

NHSEI opened an online feedback hub so that we can hear and respond to the needs and experiences of the NHS workforce at this unprecedented time. The hub is private and anonymous, and asks participants to share how they are feeling, what more can be done to support them, and how the NHS can adjust its communications as part of the Covid-19 response. It is being run by Ipsos MORI, an independent research organisation, and is open to anyone working in the NHS. Access it here.
