PPE portal now available

ACTION: Check you have received the registration email from gov.uk.email@notifications.service.gov.uk

You should have received an email from gov.uk.email@notifications.service.gov.uk telling you how and under what circumstances you can access the portal.

Who can use the portal?

All GP practices can use the portal.

Practices can only log in and place an order once they have received an email invitation to register, and once they have created login details.

The registration email will be coming from gov.uk.email@notifications.service.gov.uk.

When should we use the portal?

The PPE portal is another emergency top-up system and practices are able to place order once a week up to the limits below (note: this are current limits and subject to changes):

  • One combined pack, containing 100 IIR masks, 200 aprons and 400 gloves (200 pairs), per week or up to this amount of separate items
  • PPE ordered via the portal is FREE, so we need to make sure all practices sign up asap.
  • As agreed, practices should continue using their business-as-usual and wholesaler routes to access PPE, then NSDR and emergency supply via mutual aid agreement in NW London.

Message from DHSC: Medicines Supply Notifications

ACTION: Click here to view the messages

Please view the DHSC Medicines Supply Notifications for:

  • Levodopa/carbidopa/entacapone tablets - various brands and strengths.
  • An update to the MSN for Ranitidine - all formulations.

Please be aware this communication is also being circulated separately to all Community Pharmacies in England.

Please note that supply issues that have been categorised as tier 1 or 2, DHSC and the MSRG have requested that we use our commissioning routes to reach community pharmacy and GP practices. More serious supply issues are communicated via the Central Alerting System for action.

If you have any queries please contact: DHSCmedicinesupplyteam@dhsc.gov.uk

Updated information on 2ww Lower GI Pathway

ACTION: Click here to view the updated information

Please click here to view updated information on 2ww Lower GI Pathway. It includes a cover note, FAQs and pathway flowcharts.

Key points to note and actions required:

  • As endoscopy in NW London is currently operating at about 25% of normal volumes, due to Covid-19 blue sites and reduced efficiencies due to PPE and infection control, FIT testing prior to 2ww referrals for LGI will enable risk stratification and ensure that those patients who most urgently need endoscopy are prioritised for this. Please follow the agreed LGI Covid-19 pathway.
  • All CWT guidance remains in place: Referrals cannot be rejected or downgraded without a discussion with the referrer.
  • Practices should review any referrals that have been rejected and re-refer as appropriate (not just for Lower GI) or contact their Primary Care Lead if they are concerned.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and co-operation.

MyType1Diabetes launched by NHSEI

ACTION: Click here to find out more

NHS England and NHS Improvement have launched MyType1Diabetes, a new free online platform to support adults to manage their Type 1 diabetes. The service is available at www.mytype1diabetes.nhs.uk and will be added to the NHS Know Diabetes Website Programmes page from early July www.knowdiabetes.org.uk/for-you/programmes/type-1/

Phishing attacks and NHSMail

ACTION: Click here to the message from NHS North West London CCGs IT team

There has recently been an increase in the number of fraudulent or ‘phishing’ emails being sent to NHSmail accounts, especially within GP practices.

Reminder: use the Whole Systems Integrated Care (WSIC) dashboard

ACTION: Click here to view documents or watch the video

Alongside the Protocol, WSIC has produced a new Shielded Patient Radar, freely available to all practices. It will:

  • Provide a cleaned weekly update of patients on the shielded list
  • Allow practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) to check the needs of patients on the shielded patients list
  • Provide an update of the care plan status of shielded patients.

Reminder: Referral guidelines and clinical documents

ACTION: Access our referral guidelines and clinical documents here using the password above as usual

The guidelines provide advice for management of patients in primary care.  The guidance covers investigations to consider for specific symptoms and conditions as well as referral thresholds for specialist care. These thresholds have been agreed for adoption by NW London GP and consultant leads across all NW London CCGs and hospital trusts. These guidelines have been developed through the NW London outpatient transformation programme and further guidelines will be added as this work progresses.

In addition to the guidelines, please do not forget to check our planned procedures with threshold policies (PPwT).

This guidance is not intended to be used as a performance management resource.

Reminder: C the Signs

ACTION: Click here to find out more about C the Signs

C the Signs is a clinical decision support tool designed by clinicians to help GPs rapidly identify and manage patients at risk of cancer at the earliest and most curable stage. C the Signs has been approved by NW London for local adoption and has been adapted to local NW London cancer referral pathways. In addition, it has been updated to reflect local Covid-19 arrangements.

RM Partners, the West London Cancer Alliance hosted by The Royal Marsden, has obtained funding to purchase and implement C the Signs for every GP practice across North West London. This funding is available for one year during which an evaluation will be undertaken to inform future use.
